So I went for a foot massage today, more interesting than the tons I’ve ever done in Hong Kong. The best thing about HK is that massages are super cheap – or that is – compared to Canada. Of course there are cheaper places in China, but by the time you go down there, the extra cost would’ve went to transportation already. Nevertheless, I love getting massages, but this time we went to a new one because the one we used to go to finally went out-of-business.
This was definitely a “new experience” indeed because apparently the massage came with extra services. I’m not sure whether these “extra services” cost any more than the regular payment since I halted it extremely fast. Here I was, sitting down while getting my feet soaked and then the masseuse came along and began to dry my feet in preparation for the massage. Just because foot massages are so comfortable, I usually just tilt my head back and enjoy the feeling, but I always like to see what they’re doing the first time we try a new place and to gauge their technique. The massage began quite gentle to “warm things up” and then eventually the temporary pain set-in as she pushed down hard on all the pressure points.
About 15 minutes into the massage, a second girl came out of the room and began to work at my other foot and moved up my leg. I thought it was kinda interesting since most of the massages I ever had were one-person only, especially since most places aren’t going to give you two people for the pay of a single massage, unless you’re paying extra for it. I know for sure I didn’t request to have 2 people and know my cousin and uncle didn’t since they were next to me the entire time. So as the 2nd girl began to work up my leg, it felt weird since one was working on my foot and the feeling of two people massage two different places causes a feeling is non-symmetry, LOL. It wasn’t until about 3 minutes after the 2nd girl came out where it began to get heated and finally I understood why I had two girls massaging me. One was doing a real massage and the other was preparing to massage me elsewhere… she had her hands caressing me and was ready to stroke me and I was like, “Ahhh, stop!” but she didn’t. I have a feeling she interpreted my “ahhh” as a pleasurable one and not the “WTF, stop now” type of “ahhh” – so this girl clearly was trying to get me turned on so she can perform ‘other services’.
Bebe is 2 days away from coming to Hong Kong and I think this is the God’s way of playing a practical joke on me, trying to get some girl to turn me on and break my loyalty to bebe… HRMF! All 3 of us were aghast at this because we were seriously only looking for a massage, not a “rub-and-tug” kind of place. We were telling them to stop, but I have a feeling they either did not understand English or just thought we were ‘shy’. We had to get the parlour owner to tell them to stop as we were not looking for those types of services. As the 2nd batch of the girls left since we told them we wanted non-sexual massages only, we saw a guy come out of a private room, still getting his pants on with a big smile on his face… clearly, our suspicions were true, this wasn’t just a “normal” massage parlour. I felt grossed out immediately because it occurred to me I was sitting on this chair where other “customers” sat and it’s quite likely their dried splooge is probably all over the chair I’m on… urg, so gross.
We left, simply paying the regular price since we didn’t ask for their other fantastic ‘services’ and we decided it was not a place we wanted to be return-customers… well, I suppose that is unless bebe dumps me and I become single again, LOL… then perhaps I wouldn’t mind so much XD (not that I want that to even happen) – man, I don’t believe these places exist smack in the middle of the city under prying eyes, haha. I mean I’ve seen my fair-share in Hong Kong, but man it was a shocker given that this place seemed so damn reputable. There’s a good reason why you always give your business to the places you’re used to going, so they don’t pull weird things like this. Suffice to say, upon getting home, I had my pants washed and body disinfected because who knows how dirty my clothing were after that.
Luckily my other uncle will be free tomorrow to take us to proper massage parlours where we won’t be subjected to being “offered” services other than what we ask for and where I don’t have to worry about having my dick grabbed while I’m getting my feet massaged. To be honest, I know getting a massage tends to bring very dubious and questionable views from women, particularly in HK because it’s under the assumption we all like to be stroked and “have a happy ending” – but regular massage parlours only offer massages and nothing more. The reality is that it’s just a very relaxing and entertaining thing, particularly in a place where walking is a common method of transportation and feet get tired easily.
Time for me to sleep, enjoying a nice BBQ with family/friend tomorrow and more importantly, only hours away from holding my baby 😀 Just some food-for-thought… make sure you know how reputable the place you are getting your massages from, LOL!
So now as bebe and I progress into some seriousness with this relationship, things begin to surface, particularly with living arrangements. She likes Malaysia and I (wouldn’t say “like” – but it’s just I’ve established), Canada. Truly, I can understand the pains of asking her to be the one to “leave home” to be with me, at the same time, I admit I am greedy. I can say however, I have thought about moving my life closer, if not, in her home, but it’s just so hard… and likewise, she can say the same. The only thing that even makes it remotely easier is the fact she’s been in Canada for quite a while, on the other hand, I have “no life” in Malaysia.
We both have preferences of where we want to live, yet we both want something grand out of this relationship. I cannot justify asking her to come be with me, away from her family, other than telling her I love her and that I hope I can provide the same loving environment that her family and friends back “at home” and surely, she has friends and family in Canada as well. I would never ever ask her to feel like she is giving up her home in Malaysia, her friends, her family… simply only to “reside temporarily” with me in Canada. I hope in the future when we get our freedom 55, to move to Malaysia and/or Hong Kong. However, I simply cannot deal with doing such a thing right now… greedy, yes.. .shameful on my part… also yes.
We have a Chinese saying, “Marry a chicken, follow the chicken” loosely translated. It is my dream we can spend the first half of our life in Canada and spend the 2nd half of our life back in our born-heritage. There’s nothing I can say to bebe to rationalize why she should follow me, other than the hold her in my arms and show her actions (that are louder than words) that I care about her enough to hope she is willing to make this sacrifice. I know the more that BOTH of us think about it, the more we will worry and have this fester. She is right in telling me today that our future is determined by what happens today, so rather than think about how we’re going to deal with this very complex situation, that we should enjoy our moments together and let the future ride out. Perhaps she will feel so loved by me that moving to Canada, won’t seem so bad after all. Haha, I can only hope.
All I can promise her is I will do my utmost to ensure that she does not feel she’s abandoned her family, friends and hometown. I want her to know whenever she misses them, that they’re only a flight away and that as long as our finances are capable, she can go back anytime. Sure, that might mean I starve for a month while she’s gone and find me a skeleton on the couch when she returns, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice for her 😆 To be honest, if in the end she really does come to Canada to be with me, I swear upon it that I will be forever indebted to her, not just simply because she will one day be my wife and perhaps mother of our children, but rather, she selflessly made this relationship work by residing in Canada, a complete act of bravery which I would fail to do myself.
I meditate for guidance and blessings from above. Yes, I am asking bebe to make a huge-huge jump, for me, for US. It is a very UNFAIR trade-off because I am incapable of doing the same thing for her as much as I reallyreallyreally want to. I will promise her nothing less than all my love and that no matter how well I treat her, I will never make up for the fact she would stay in a country away from ‘home’ with me and although one day she may feel attuned enough to Canada to call it her home, it is still simply a “home away from home.” – much that Hong Kong while I simply have moved away for so many years, is still my home.
Perhaps if I can see things the same way she does, I will stop looking so far ahead (as much as I want to) and simply cherish THIS moment that bebe and I have together. I hope that she will come to Hong Kong so we can spend some quality and personal time together. It’ll give us a GREAT opportunity to see who we really are and to learn about each other on a totally different level. The fact that she’s willing to come to HK to spend time with me (ok, so she WAS planning to come anyways) is really a big subconscious comfort-level in her heart. One may argue that I’m “seeing more than what she really means” – but the action is quite obvious, would you dare to have gone on a trip with a boyfriend who you have only gotten to know a bit? The reality is that while she may have some reservations about our future, certainly there is a large hidden comfort we have with each other and probably our doubt mostly comes with the question, “Where are we going to start our lives?”
To really solidify our future, I have to prove that I fully love her and that she can open her heart to me. Shamefully, I have questioned her a lot, asking her why sometimes she is so reluctant to open herself to me, even when we are making so much progress, in fact, the smallest idea when she told me she wanted to come to HK enthralled me like never before. I became more aggressive in the sense I wanted to pursue her not only as a girlfriend now, but as a soon-to-be, life partner. It may seem like this is all rubbish given the distance she keeps right now with me, but I pray hard that if/when she comes to Hong Kong within the next week or so that I make her stay enjoyable and also show her what I have to offer, despite our difficulties within our own hearts. Individually, we have obstacles and issues we have to deal with… together, we can conquer the trials of love!
If you believe in prayer, please feel free to pray for bebe and I to help us overcome our barriers and allow her to fully be reassured that I am Mr. Right and that she will have no regrets leaving home to pursue a life on our own, with the blessings of our families.
So this week, Whisper’s IC SLIM WING OVERNIGHT USE-SUPER LONG sanitary napkin is on sale at ParkNShop, so how could I miss the opportunity to test out a product which was recommended to me by my friend Claudia? The purchase price was HKD$14.90 for 10 pieces. As you may have already read, I’m not a particular fan of Whisper because it’s “related” to Always which we have back at home in Canada. Before talking to my friend, it was my intention never to test Whisper again just because I don’t really like their products all that much. Nevertheless, she did rave about how much she loved them and don’t use anything else but that, so SIGH, I gave them another shot.
The packaging is extremely attractive and really makes you want to buy the product 😆 Apparently the new version of the pad is supposed to boast a “1-second absorption” feature to help ensure security and comfort. As much as I was skeptical about Whisper, I have to hand it to them that their claim is pretty good about the speedy absorption. The pads are wrapped in a smooth plastic wrapper and has a very pleasing lavender colour.
Whisper borrows many of its pad technology from Japanese inventions and truly helps build upon their existing technology. This is something I wish North American divisions would take note, that they should be borrowing technologies developed by other manufacturers to improve their product, not simply “reinvent” or stall without progress simply because people need to buy them whether they’re great or not. Yes, I understand adopting technology will cost money, but I also believe that they should strive to better their products, not just “offer it as-is.”
A nice description of all the different types of Whisper sanitary napkin products available. I gotta say, I love the packaging, it’s so cute 😀
It’s a good reminder about changing the pad regularly during your period, it’s at least better than telling women to “have a happy period”… and of course that reminder means using more of their pad and thus earning them more money, at least it’s a hygienically-sound thing to do to ensure fresh pads throughout the day.
The package opens at the top and is very convenient to stash underneath the sink or in a drawer, face up as the pad dispenses from the opened package conveniently. The only gripe I had about it was that the pads tend to shift in the packaging a lot and as you can see, became very “messy” and when pulling a pad out, sometimes it would get stuck/grab the adjacent pads along with it.
The wrapper has an asethically pleasing flower see-through the plastic as a result of the embedded print onto the pad adhesive and like typical Whisper/Always pads, the adhesive is affixed to the wrapper upon pad removal. The blue tab is quite sturdy and even the pad bouncing and scraping around in a purse won’t accidentally undo the pad within.
When I opened the pad, I said to myself, “Gee, this looks awfully like Always pads” and I wasn’t particularly impressed until the testing phase itself. The top sheet while boasting to be “soft” is actually plasticky, similar to my usual complaints about Always pads. In fact, I would say the Whisper top sheet is even more rough/plasticky than Always, I sighed… but hey, the test must go on! With that said though, the top cover and pad as a whole felt much sturdier than Always and at least gave a sense of protection and security, as discomforting as the pad may be. I also noted upon opening the pad that it had a plastic-like smell as well, but upon further inspection, the scent was very neutral and was not too pungent and was actually quite relaxing.
My biggest complain about this pad was the shoddy quality… if you take a look at the above picture, you will know what I mean. This is not only the case with THIS one pad, I have already looked at 4-5 more, all with the “centre core” shifted to one side of the pad. To me, this is totally unacceptable and I think to a menstruating woman, this can be quite detrimental to her protection. While the core itself is not shifted so far off the pad where it’s unusual, it’s definitely “not where it should be” and I doubt it’s “supposed to be like that” because in the advertisements and such, it shows it in the exact center between the two “wall channels” of the pad.
The wings of the pad I will admit is extremely secure and will definitely help keep the pad in place. The wings itself is capable of covering a large area of the crotch of undergarment that it’d be hard-pressed to shift around, although with that said, the adhesives are quite sticky and I would worry that regular use of the pad might wear out undergarment fabric a lot quicker. Because the wings themselves are similar composition to the top layer of the pad, being plasticky, it did not seem to retain fluid very well, acting only to “keep the pad in place” rather than being absorbent. I have to say that it’s a bit perplexing at how “rough” and “plasticky” the wings can be, yet against skin, it does not chafe… I found the wings to be rather comfortable and reliable for keeping the pad in-place.
The pad being designed for overnight use is greatly capable of absorbing large amounts of flow and it sure as hell impressed me with the quick absorption time, whether it’s a large but short burst of flow, or, long-term trickle amount of flow. The speedy absorption helps keep the top layer dry and the biggest thumbs up I’m giving this pad is the ability for it to kill and mask odour, despite its’ very little scented smell. In fact, even after prolonged use of the pad, it did not give off the usual foul odour and kept the fluid within from tainting, even in open-air. You could tell the odour absorbing properties were working very well because the smell of the pad after use is almost the same as when you first opened the pad fresh! This pad is great for those who really find menstrual odour rancid or share the washroom with many people who may find pad odour offensive.
The pores seen distributed throughout the pad help keep air-flow plentiful, reducing discomfort resulting from temperature between the legs and moisture/dryness buildup. Maintaining good airflow for a sanitary napkin ensures a comfortable contact between the legs and discourage bacterial growth. With pores are build into the pad well as you do not feel any lumpiness or a feeling that something is disturbing the smoothness of the pad.
The pad is quite comfortable, albeit the similarity to Always (which I dislike) and also the absorbency is remarkable, maintaining its “1-second absorption rate” even when the pad is highly saturated. The side walls maintain integrity well, ensuring flow is distributed everywhere else, but kept away from the extremes of the pad, redirecting flow to “stronger” areas of the pad, even when large amounts of flow is expelled along the exterior channels at a quick rate. The pad reliably locks fluid within the material, so even touching the top of the pad near saturation still gives a very dry feeling, although obviously some moisture is noticeable. Even when the pad is becoming close to saturation, the pad maintains its form very well and even after undergoing twists, shifts, turns and rapid leg movements, it stays fit to the body and returns to its original shape no matter how much you have moved. Pads often bunch at the rear due to sitting and leg movements, so this also results in much fewer rear pad leaks and sit-down-stand-up peace of mind.
This type of wrapper, because of the reusable sticky tab, allows rewrapping of a to-be-disposed pad. Furthermore, because the adhesive has imprinted flowers on it, it helps prevent the soiled pad contained inside to be easily viewed, also complimented by the dark lavender colour. This is particularly of use when the pad is disposed in an open bin, helping mask the blobs of menstrual flow absorbed by the pad showing through the wrapper. This will probably make the squeamish guys happy not to see their girlfriend or wife’s sanitary trash. A properly wrapped pad poised for disposal will not fall out from the edges of the wrapper since the sticky tab will help keep it in place and luckily, the smooth wrapper does not encourage sliding of the disposed product.
I’m happy that my friend Claudia recommended me to give this pad a shot, because it really was worth reviewing. Although I still have not changed my stance on the Always pad series, I will definitely give Whisper a “take two” the next chance I get. This pad has definitely left me with a positive experience, particularly with its odour control and “1-second absorption” property. Despite my original concerns with the roughness and plastic-like “look” of the pad, it is quick delicate against the skin and indeed keeps skin dry even well on its way to total saturation! Cheers Claudia for your great taste of pads 😛
I’m adamant that within my 34-day stay in Hong Kong that I want to be able to test all the pads that I have set-in-my-sights. There are some that I “want to test for sure” and a few that I “want to test if the opportunity presents itself”. With that said, I will be in Hong Kong in the again in the near future anyways, but with bebe and my relationship flourishing (and hopefully for years to come), I have decided to perhaps return to HK every 3 years instead of 2 – I’m not sure I could be gone away from her for a month unless I bring her along, haha!
These are the products which I demand to test:
Currently: HKD$14.90 for 10 pieces

Because quite a few sales at ParkNShop this week, I’m going to try to pick up some Whisper-brand pads to experiment with and see how they stack up against the several in the past few days. Although not being a particular fan of Whisper and it happens to be the same technology/styles used by Always, I try not to assume too much. I do recall 2 years ago having tried the 護舒寶 (Whisper) Instant Clean Slim Wing Night Use and it was very different than crappy North America “Always”. 😆
The Stayfree pad does look appealing, although it makes me wonder whether or not it uses the same adhesives for everything/everywhere else! I’m hoping that the napkin is unscented, rather than the strong pungent smell from women nearby. I’m a fan of Stayfree and even back at home, I get their stuff regularly. Either way, experimenting with Stayfree makes me feel really close with bebe. I’m just so tired of the Canadian Stayfree “smell”.
Now that this week brings a host of on-sale Whisper pads, I must take the opportunity to stock up and prepare a picture/review session for my blog. Stay tuned soon once I get the new ones on sale from the stores 😀
So today I snuck down to SaSa, a cosmetics and Japanese-import store to purchase Unicharm’s Sofy: Soft Bodyfit Super Night Guard 29cm Sanitary Napkin. You may wonder why I said “sneak” and it’s mostly because SaSa is right underneath the building where I live, making it quite a dangerous venture for running into family… LOL, how can I even explain why I’m buying pads right? It’s not like bebe is here with me where at least I have a reasonable excuse 😆 Oddly enough, I just noticed that the package I got has only 11 pieces while the site says 14… oh well.
I don’t understand Japanese, so I had no idea what everything on the package really says. Hell, I can’t even read the pad instructions on how to use and stuff, so it was all a guessing-game. I was quite surprized that a pad designed for overnight use didn’t have wings, but it wasn’t until later on when I noticed the amazing absorbency that it made sense why it didn’t need wings for it to be effective (or at least the regular side-wings). This pack as HKD$21 or about $2.75CAD. Since these are imported from Japan, I can understand the slightly higher cost for a HK-made equivalent.
From the look of the pad as described on the outside of the package, I had thought it was going to be quite puffy and thick, but that was not the case. I will seriously have to hand it to Sofy, this pad has a right to say it’s a soft body fit because it really is amazingly comfortable – soft against the skin and flexible enough to conform with body contours. At first I was worried it might be flimsy because of the “feel’ of it, but I was proven wrong by excellent pad-technology. The pad for a mere 29cm and slim profile can hold quite the large amount of fluid without carrying the Kotex 41cm sized pad. The coverage area is less, so this pad would be excellent for even day-use for heavy flow-ers, without bulk and excessive length. It feels heavenly against skin and is not abrasive or so soft where it causes irritation or itching.
The pack wrapper is very silent, using cloth-like material where it minimizes pad-opening noise. The material is light enough where the imprinted Sofy branding shows through the wrapper via the wrapper-attached adhesive. The pad is extremely light to hold and more impressive is that the pad wrapper ITSELF feels very comfortable, let alone the pad. Even though Canadian Kotex uses the same idea with the cloth-type wrapper, it is still fairly rough to rub against, but the Sofy wrapper is so soft you could sleep on it! I was a bit intimidated by the thickness of it (as much as I love thick pads), but isn’t show very well because I didn’t take a side-profile shot of it. The sticky tab is labeled with the model length of the pad (290) and can be used to reseal the used pad for disposal.
Unlike what I’m used to seeing, this pad does not have side-wings, but still retain its rear-wings. I’ve never actually seen this design before because it’s usually an all-or-nothing situation, has wings or does not – rather than keeping the rear wings. To be honest, I am starting to think this is ingenious, because side wings can often chafe against the side of the legs and this can be avoided by using rear wings, since they fold towards the rear-crotch of the underwear, thereby reducing regular contact against the inner thighs. Also, I have found these rear wings hold just as -if not better to secure the pad to underwear. Also, rear wings definitely help with sitting as it still provides a comfortable “landing” for the butt and an excellent cushion for the pad pushing up against skin. I did find however that without side wings, there was a small scenario of leakage towards the side where wings normally would be – although I’m not sure if even the side wings would have really prevented that.
The raised core while looking lumpy is actually extremely comfortable… think about sitting on a fluffy pillow, it is so beautiful! The pad stays close enough to the body to absorb flow quickly, while giving plenty of breathing space and comfort. The well-spaced holes on the pad also help lock in and distribute flow quickly, avoiding that damp and uncomfortable feeling of flow “pooling” at the top layer. This is one of the few pads I’ve ever tested where squeezing of legs together and lots of sitting/standing hasn’t caused rapid bunching and flow “coming back up” (yes yes, gross), because most pads are quite prone to leakage under those conditions. Even when the pad is quite saturated, it keeps its form and has not disappointed me yet under testing. The side channels are definitely able to keep flow in the middle of the pad! As flow begins to accumulate and pushes the side channels absorbency to the limit, it pushes begins to distribute the flow towards the rear of the pad.
You might notice an adhesive that’s just hanging from the left side of the above picture, it actually is a release for the rear wings and detaches from the sticky part of the pad as you open the wrapper, therefore eliminating the need to hold garbage other than the entire wrapper as a whole. Kotex White and other pads have wing tabs where you need to dispose of separate and “comes apart”, creating extra garbage you have to manage and manipulate. This wrapper design allows for a single movement opening and then disposal with little management of the resulting garbage. The only downside about the smoothness of the pad wrapper is that after you roll the pad up in the usual “egg roll” form, the old pad might actually slide out completely from the edges if the stickiness of the pad is gone. Obviously this is not exactly appealing if you are not a fan of menstrual fluid all over your hands. 😀 I even rolled it up extra tight, but because of the material, it wasn’t rough enough to prevent the old pad from shifting from side-to-side in the wrapper.
For a non-winged NIGHT USE pad, I’m quite impressed. I had high hopes for Sofy pads and they sure as hell didn’t disappoint me. The price point is definitely higher, but the quality and length-of-use is great. The fact a 29cm length pad is putting up a good fight against a thicker, 41cm pad just makes my jaw drop. The packaging for all the pads and individual pads are quite cute and the colouring scheme suits my taste 😛 I think in a purse or pocket however the pad might be a bit revealing because it can be quite thick due to the way it is folded on top of itself. Also because the material tends to be soft and thus susceptible to being puffy, it might come off as being larger than it really is when fully extended.
I love Sofy pads and plus, they have great commercials with cute girls 😆
In the past few days, I’ve noticed how different that Asia or Asia-raised women store their feminine hygiene products, although I had thought perhaps this had to do with a lack of space in living quarters. Having talked to many girls, both Asia/Asia-raised along with North American/North-American raised women about where they keep their feminine hygiene products, I’ve found that Asian women tend to keep those items outside of the washroom. Thinking for myself, if I were a girl, I’d definitely leave them in the washroom – just seems like the convenient thing to do after all.
I happened to notice (my mom’s side of the family is not very secretive about this stuff… they talk about menstruation/pads openly.. even in front of male-family members, hah) that all except for one of my female cousins leave their pads either in their own room or on a shelf outside of the washroom. Now, I’m used to most North American women who would dare not even put their pads and tampons in an “open” area and usually will go to any means to hide them, but there they were, sitting on a shelf in the open outside of the washroom are the mounds of pads, thins, slims, thicks, huge-ass-super-overnights, at my cousin’s place. I mean perhaps the only exception are those Asian girls who are particularly shy about it, I mean, I have yet to see where bebe keeps her pads, LOL… but I’ve seen most of where my girls or cousins keep theirs.
Back in Canada, most of my girls will keep them in the washroom, usually in a cabinet or something and they usually have to tell me where they put it, hah. In Hong Kong, it’s almost like a “self-service” thing… they leave it available and in plain-sight. I haven’t even had to ask my cousins where they kept it and they made no effort to even covering it up. I’ve even noticed the males are pretty nonchalant when buying them… the guy who was in the pad aisle with me was casually browsing each item and the girls just worked themselves around us as if we were girls too and didn’t give two shits. I know that I’ve gotten some weird looks shopping in the pad aisles back in Canada before, as if that aisle was somehow “restricted area for women only” or something. I guess another difference here in HK is that maids, even for middle-class families are readily available. Most of the women you see in the aisles are usually Filipino maids buying them for the family and when they do buy them, it’s in the friggin masses or at least I assume there are multiple women in the household as they usually bring 4-5 packs to the counter at one time, various brands and sizes. Apparently this is quite common talking to one of my girls, she has her maid buy her pads for her too. I wish some of my girls would buy some for me, AMY AMY lol.
Living quarters in Hong Kong tend to be limited, the place I’m staying at is just a bit over 300 sq ft and technically, this room is supposed to be able to fit at least 2-3 person family. Our washroom is quite tight, only hosting one cabinet, but still, one would think it would be the normal place to keep these things. Most women I know who keep their pads outside of the washroom limit use of their bathroom cabinet space and it makes me perplexed as why they would leave the under-the-sink cabinets so empty and have the inconvenience of keeping pads outside the bathroom door or in their room. The only thing I could think of is they might be worried that someone would open the cupboard to replace toilet roll or need cleaning supplies that they wouldn’t want to keep it there. I would think most girls change their pad in the washroom, so then that means if you had guest over, you’d have to pull a pad off the shelf outside the washroom or carry one from your room to change it. Certainly, I know sometimes it might be more convenient/necessary to change it in your room, but I mean you could always keep a few in your room as a backup/emergency one and keep the rest in the washroom.
You may wonder why I spend so much time thinking about it, but I certainly do want to know why some women choose to keep it in the washroom, outside of it or even in their own rooms. This is particularly true for women who are shy about their periods and wouldn’t it be more embarrassing to have to carry a pad from your room or a shelf in the open to the washroom to change it? Oh yes, I’m quite sure you could pocket it or whatever and not carry it in your hands, but still confuses me as to why not just keep it in the washroom since I think that’s where most girls change it.. I only know of 2 girls who change regularly inside their own rooms and it’s mainly because their washroom is always occupied.
Time to hit the stores again to see what stuff is on sale this week so I can take some pictures and do a short review 😀 I really want to check out the new Kotex Natural’s after reading about them and also the two Whisper pads that my friend recommended to me! Toodles.
I’ve arrived in Hong Kong safely and my first dedication to this blog was to ensure I don’t neglect it during my absence! Although there might be a lack of written content, rest assured, there will be plenty of excellent pictures of feminine hygiene items I find here. Of course as much as I want to type a full out review, there probably won’t be time and unfortunately, I think I’m too biased with how great pads in Asia are, so it wouldn’t be right for me to make accurate reviews of it 😀
While on the plane, I found that Cathay Pacific has continued to use quality brand-name pads, which I found the Kotex White: Dual Cover 2-in-1 Ultra Thin with Wings (21cm) in the sanitary napkin compartment in the washrooms. The resolution is poor since I only had my iPhone camera at my disposal and furthermore, you try taking a picture while maneuvering in a horribly cramped washroom and turbulence, LOL! A pictures are thumbnailed, so you’re welcome to click on them to get a larger picture.
And then today, I had to rush to the closest ParkNShop that opened early because the “sales” change every Friday, so I had to make sure I grabbed the sale on the Kotex White Overnight with Wings 41cm before they changed the prices. The price of it was HKD$20.90 (no taxes) or about $2.75 CAD for 8 pieces.
and the number of choices in stores are massive, particularly for sanitary napkins. Tampons are available… like 2 that they stashed at the bottom corner of the shelves and obstructed by other displays 😆 Poor tampons…
I just finished testing the pad and it was amazing. The absorbency of the pad is huge while maintaining a very comfortable top layer. Although you can feel it is moist and indicates the pad needs to be changed, it is not a degree of uncomfortable dampness. The pad when saturated gets extremely heavy, but this is not unusual as the amount of flow absorbed without leakage is impressive. The pad itself is quite long as the measurement states (41cm) and may be hard to use for women with a smaller stature. Nevertheless, the pad itself is designed for “night use” and will provide reliable and secure overnight protection against even the heaviest of flows. Due to the size of the pad, the disposal profile of the pad is rather large when highly saturated. The pad when not pushed to its maximum flow absorbency actually disposes quite well and that’s amazing given the overall size and length of the pad.
The top cover is extremely comfortable, boasting at cottony-type layer. When sitting or moving with the pad, it does not cause chafing, whether in a wet or dry state. The wings do not cause irritation and both the side and rear wings of the pad secure well onto standard undergarments. The colour and design of the pad is very cute, with the brand and logo of the pad imprinted on the adhesive part of the pad. The wings tab are easily removed and help control the winged adhesives until they are ready to be secured to panties. This pad while having similar length as the Always Maxi Pads Overnight Extra Heavy Flow, it is thinner and does not feel as bulky when worn. I would definitely not recommend this pad be used for daily-use unless flow is extremely heavy or where you cannot change your pad on a more convenient basis.
The channel-design and contours help conform to a rapidly moving body and returns to shape even against the toughest movements. The core channels distribute flow well throughout the pad, thus increasing its absorbency before leakage occurs. Absorption is fast even for gushes of flow, leaving the top layer dry and preventing discomfort created by moisture. Although this pad is unscented, it does a great job of absorbing odour and maintaining an amiable pad atmosphere.
Time to head off to visit family, will be back as soon as I get more tests underway or have something about my vacation to update.
I’ve been thinking lately, I’m pretty embarrassed over my own feelings for bebe. No, I don’t doubt my devotion to her, but rather, my feelings for her have grown.. uh… rather strong. Until a while ago, I’ve had pretty strong emotions for bebe and stuff, but I’ve always tried to suppress my “other” feelings for her. My feelings for her not only have gone from emotional, but even now physical/sexual. When I say I feel sexual towards her, it doesn’t mean I want to throw her on the bed and start having my way with her, but it means I get excited by the thought of her.I know these are pretty normal feelings, particularly for a guy… but it’s embarrassing for me.
Bebe, unlike other girls I’ve been with, isn’t one who is the touchy-touchy type or enjoy physical intimacy in a relationship. Hopefully in time I’ll break that barrier and she’ll not only “accept” physical intimacy, but also embrace and enjoy it. I’ve been so happy with how things are going between us lately… the only thing that has bothered me that I’m trying to get over is what I just spoke about, the lack of physical comfort. Even when I talk about just wanting to hug her… she gets all quiet on me or just ignores me. It makes me hurt a bit, but then I keep reminding myself she just needs to experience once before she knows how comforting it is. I mean hugging isn’t exactly a “oh-my-god, he did what?!!” type of move… I would even dare say that hugs for the most part are not highly-sexual in nature. Bebe still seems very avoiding of physical contact and it sort of bugs me, and I’m sure she’s aware of it… but I want to do as much as possible to melt that barrier. Why is it so hard? I need to understand… sigh.
Nevertheless, I think about how much my feelings for her have grown. One might wonder why being excited over your own girl might be so unusual and it’s not, but when I think of her and become excited, it’s not even because I’m thinking of dirty things about her. I don’t think about her nude, I don’t think about her doing sexy things, I simply think about her and I already get excited and horny over her. WHY?!! I don’t even think sexual thoughts about her, how can I get sexually excited?! I mean, I could completely blame just being male and that’s why, but usually I have to think about a girl sexually before I even get excited, but with bebe, I just think about how beautiful of a person she is, inside and out, that it gets me all riled up over her.
When I talk to bebe, I swear, my eyes glaze over, I get hot inside and I start to swoon over her. She’s SO DAMN HOT… and since when, I ask myself. When I first saw her, I just seen her as “just the average Asian girl”… small, cute and lovable, but I could not recall when I began to just drool over her… I think I need a bib. I’m starting to believe that the way you view physical attraction changes over time as you get to know a person better. Suddenly things about their personality, helps amplify their physical beauty as well… in other words, beauty is also an acquired taste. I hope that in time, I will become more attractive in bebe’s eyes… I’m not even concerned about how others view me now, as long as bebe views me in a positive light. I’m not hoping that she’ll see me as not having any faults, but to learn to love me for who I am. If I can see her as being more beautiful over time, then surely, she can see me as being more handsome over time. I hate to think that because she’s doesn’t “like the way I look” that it prevents her from being physically-close to me.
Some girls also look even hotter when they’re angry and ferocious. I was watching a TVB series today called When Lanes Merge (情越雙白線)… and there’s couple of scenes where she’s angry and ferocious, she looks so frigging amazing. Bebe can look a mixture of scary and totally drooltastic when she has her “angry look” on… 😆 – In all reality, I think I can find perfection in every look she has, haha… could be her best or her worse and I still say it’s great XD
So tomorrow, I’m finally headed out on a beautiful 18-hour flight to Hong Kong. I’m excited to see my family! On the topic of my blog, I’ve already marked a few feminine hygiene items worthy of purchase and testing while I’m there 😀 In fact, this week there is a Kotex Whites Slim w/ Wings XX-Long on sale @ ParkNShop ($20.90HKD/pack) this week which I’m hoping to get a chance to snatch up before it ends! I’ll be hunting for some good deals so I can test them while I’m there and also, I’m sure my friend Amy has some presents waiting for me already 😆 I already know that as I mention this, she is going to ask me “Is Bebe going to buy some for you when she comes back?!!” ‘cuz she’s been asking for a while, haha. Well, I guess we’ll find out whether bebe remembers to get me a souvenir (although very different than what most people get, LOL)… I’ll update as soon as I get a chance, especially if I get some pictures of Asia’s superior pads/tampons! 🙂 Cheers and enjoy your holidays everyone.
Found a post that made me laugh… 😀
I’m not against religion, I just dislike it when they don’t “play by the rules” of their religion if they’re going to claim to believe in a particular faith. I know a lot of people who claim to be of X-religion, but they go against all the principles and underlying foundations of it… so… don’t act like you’re all “pure” and stuff if you really aren’t.
Found a feature on the Discovery Channel which I’m sure flow-lovers and curious-minds alike will like… how conventional sanitary napkins (maxi pads) are made:
I’m sure they have manufacturers with perhaps more proprietary or advanced techniques, but it gives us a good idea on the process 😀
I uploaded this myself, I feel so proud… 😛 lol!
