Tampax

LOL, that little boy is so funny, such a little perv 😛 If I only I had that opportunity when I was a kid… whops 😀

If only it really absorbed that much…

  1. There are so many more! Serena Williams, and the outsmart mother nature campaign by Tampax… don’t you think that these ads are telling women that their periods are a terrible thing, and the only way to deal is with their products? They all tell girls/women that their period is something to be ashamed of, to hide… hell we don’t even call “it” by name! Menstruation, mentrual blood, vagina.., all these words are missing in every single ad. Even the new Kotex ads, while different and refreshing at first, skimp out on the reality.. girls and women should not be told their entire life that menstruating is natural BUT you need to HIDE IT and prentend that you are NOT menstruating, even when you are. Hence the tiny little tampons that are sold now. BTW, have you ever checked out the menstrual cup or sea sponges? You should see how many chemicals are in tampons (ahem, BLEACH) and terrible to put into the body, especially the vagina, which is flesh and directly in contact with the blood stream! check out http://www.divacup.com and, based off of your about me section and what not, I think you woulkd reallky like the book CUNT. its not what you think. It would make a great gift to your female friends too!

  2. As underhanded as it may be, playing women’s own embarrassment over menstruation really does help Tampax sell their products. There’s nothing we can do to fight these retailers directly, I mean after all, they control the market and certainly, menstrual supplies are necessities for many. However, we can begin to fight back by educating growing young ladies and making sure they know that periods are not something to be ashamed of, but something to be cherished and appreciated – that way, these manufacturers can’t use women’s own insecurities against them as a marketing ploy.

I agree with the fact there is way too much emphasize placed on products being “discrete” rather than concentrating on making them “better” – I’ve noticed that now being in Hong Kong for vacation, many of the ads and promotions here concentrate on their product being comfortable, absorbant and helps provide a peace-of-mind… and even some, promoting the fact they’re naturally made and that their materials are environmentally-conscious. Back in Canada, all they promote is the fact using X-product allows you to hide your period from others and even try to pretend it doesn’t exist from yourself. That is why I perhaps like pads/tampons from Asia so much more, because they worry more about making their users happy with the product rather than trying to deny the existence of monthly periods.

I have looked into Sea Sponges and Divacups before, I have perhaps a few posts on it. I still need to finish reading My Little Red Book but will definitely consider CUNT as a later-read! Thanks for your input and dropping by.
